3/29, 4 BUFFLEHEADS (DY).

On 3/26 in East Liberty, sightings included 6 FOX SPARROWS; on 3/28, 5 FOX
SPARROWS; on 3/30, 1 Yellow-bellied Sapsucker, 1 HERMIT THRUSH, 3 Eastern
Towhees, 5 FOX SPARROWS, 1 Chipping Sparrow (DY).

At the Imperial grasslands on 3/26, 1 LESSER YELLOWLEGS, 3 WILSON'S SNIPE;
on 3/30, 2 SAVANNAH SPARROWS, 3 GREATER YELLOWLEGS, 18 WILSON'S SNIPE, 1
Pied-billed Grebe, 1 RING-NECKED DUCK, 2 BUFFLEHEADS, 7 GREEN-WINGED TEAL,

At the Moody Road pond on 3/26, 7 RING-NECKED DUCKS; on 3/30, 1 GREEN-

On 3/27 in Sharpsburg, 16 BONAPARTE'S GULLS (DY).

On 3/28 at Sewickley Heights Borough Park and various places along the
Little Sewickley Creek, sightings included 5 Eastern Towhees, 1 HERMIT
THRUSH, 1 FOX SPARROW, 1 singing Eastern Meadowlark, 2 Eastern Phoebes, 1
Yellow-bellied Sapsucker, 6 Wood Ducks, 2 Turkey Vultures (BV). On 3/30 in
the Sewickley Creek area, 37 species were counted by the bird club
including YELLOW-THROATED WARBLERS (1 at Pontefrac Park and 2 at the
Edgeworth dump site), 1 LOUISIANA WATERTHRUSH at Walker Park, 1 FOX
SPARROW, 1 Yellow-bellied Sapsucker, 2 Chipping Sparrows, 2 Wood Ducks, 1
BONAPARTE'S GULL, 4 Double-crested Cormorants; on 3/31, 2 WINTER WRENS
near Walker Park, Yellow-bellied Sapsuckers, pair of SAVANNAH SPARROWS,
and 1 NORTHERN ROUGH-WINGED SWALLOW at the Edgeworth dump site (BV).

At Six-Mile Island on 3/28, 3 LESSER SCAUP; on 3/31, 7 Wood Ducks (DY).

At Dashield's Dam on 3/30, 18 BONAPARTE'S GULLS, 3 BUFFLEHEADS, 1 LESSER
SCAUP, 1 American Coot; on 3/31, 1 drake SURF SCOTER, up to 63 BONAPARTE'S

On 3/31 at Harrison Hills Park, 8 Wood Ducks, 5 RING-NECKED DUCKS, 2
Hooded Mergansers, 1 WINTER WREN, 1 LOUISIANA WATERTHRUSH, 2 PURPLE
FINCHES, Eastern Phoebe, Eastern Towhee, Field Sparrow (PH).


BEAVER COUNTY:

On 3/27 at the Big Beaver Wetlands, 49 RING-NECKED DUCKS, 2 American Coots
(MV).

At the Three Rivers gravel ponds on 3/27, 23 Hooded Mergansers, 38 RING-
NECKED DUCKS, 2 REDHEADS, 7 LESSER SCAUP, 2 BUFFLEHEADS, 2 GREEN-WINGED
TEAL; on 4/1, 4 LESSER SCAUP, 28 RING-NECKED DUCKS, 17 Hooded Mergansers
(MV).

On 3/28 at Ambridge Reservoir, sightings included 2 COMMON LOONS, 2 LONG-
TAILED DUCKS, 45 LESSER SCAUP, 17 BUFFLEHEADS, 4 RED-BREASTED MERGANSERS,
6 Hooded Mergansers, 1 Pied-billed Grebe, 1 calling Barred Owl; on 3/30, 1
LOUISIANA WATERTHRUSH, BUFFLEHEAD, LESSER SCAUP, RING-NECKED DUCK, Hooded
Merganser, RED-BREASTED MERGANSER, RUDDY DUCK, HORNED GREBE; on 4/1, 3
AMERICAN WIGEON, 8 GADWALL, 1 COMMON LOON, 38 RING-NECKED DUCKS, 33 LESSER

In Beaver Falls on 3/30, 1 probable singing western-race PALM WARBLER: on
3/31, 1 Chipping Sparrow (SB).

On 4/1 at Independence Marsh, 2 BLUE-WINGED TEAL, 2 GREEN-WINGED TEAL, 1
GADWALL, 3 BUFFLEHEADS, 1 Hooded Merganser (MV).

On 4/1 at Darlington Lake, 14 LESSER SCAUP (MV).

At Madden Run Road marsh on 4/1, 12 RUSTY BLACKBIRDS, 4 GREEN-WINGED TEAL,
singing SWAMP SPARROWS (MV).


BUTLER COUNTY:

At State Gamelands #95 in the Slippery Rock Creek area on 3/25, sightings
included COMMON LOON, Hooded Mergansers, BUFFLEHEAD, pair of Wood Ducks,
Eastern Phoebe, 2 TREE SWALLOWS, Red-shouldered Hawk (KSJ).

At the Todd Nature Reserve Center on 3/27, 1 LOUISIANA WATERTHRUSH and 1
calling ACADIAN FLYCATCHER (BS).

On 3/31 at an unspecified location, 1 Chipping Sparrow, 2 pairs of PURPLE
FINCHES (MB).


CLARION COUNTY:

On 3/26 at the Curllsville strips pond there were RING-NECKED DUCKS,
Hooded Mergansers, and several GREEN-WINGED TEAL; WILSON'S SNIPE returned
on 3/25 to the usual flooded pasture in Curllsville (CW).

At Kahle Lake on 3/27, sightings included 5 COMMON MERGANSERS, 19 RUDDY
DUCKS, 2 BUFFLEHEADS, 2 HORNED GREBES, 1 BONAPARTE'S GULL, 5+ TREE
SWALLOWS, Eastern Meadowlarks, and others (CW).


ERIE COUNTY:

At the Tom Ridge Environmental Center on 3/26, sightings included 2 BLACK
VULTURES, 1,636 Turkey Vultures, 4 BALD EAGLES, 3 NORTHERN HARRIERS, 41
Red-shouldered Hawks, 3 ROUGH-LEGGED HAWKS, 1 albino Sharp-shinned Hawk, 2
Wood Ducks, 3 Double-crested Cormorants, 1 Yellow-bellied Sapsucker, 15
TREE SWALLOWS, 1 COMMON RAVEN, and others (JM).

On 3/26 at Presque Isle State Park, sightings included Pied-billed Grebe,
SCAUP SP., RING-NECKED DUCKS, NORTHERN SHOVELER, AMERICAN WIGEON, American
Coot, NORTHERN PINTAIL, RED-BREASTED MERGANSERS, CANVASBACK, COMMON
GOLDENEYES, Hooded Merganser, COMMON MERGANSER, RUDDY DUCK, BUFFLEHEAD,
BONAPARTE'S GULL, Field Sparrow, 12 HERMIT THRUSHES, PURPLE FINCH, Eastern
Towhee, Yellow-rumped Warbler, American Woodcock (RN). On 3/31, sightings
included 1 LONG-EARED OWL, 1 Great Horned Owl, 2 American Woodcocks, 1
MERLIN, 1 BALD EAGLE, 1 Yellow-bellied Sapsucker, 1 HERMIT THRUSH, 1

FAYETTE COUNTY:

On 3/31 at Jacob's Creek Lake, 14 NORTHERN SHOVELERS, 2 BUFFLEHEADS, 1
Hooded Merganser, 1 RED-BREASTED MERGANSER, 1 RUDDY DUCK, 2 HORNED GREBES,
3 American Coots, 1 Ring-necked Pheasant calling, 1 BROWN THRASHER, 1
Chipping Sparrow (MF).

In Waynesburg on 3/26, 8-10 Brown-headed Cowbirds (FS).


INDIANA COUNTY:

In Clarksburg on 3/27, a first-county-record Carolina Chickadee has been
seen and heard; also PURPLE FINCH, Chipping Sparrow, AMERICAN TREE
SPARROWS, White-throated Sparrows, American Woodcock; on 3/29, 1 NORTHERN
HARRIER; on 3/31, 1 BROWN THRASHER; oN 4/1, 3 GREBE SP., 5 RING-NECKED
DUCKS, PURPLE FINCHES (MC).


LAWRENCE COUNTY:

On 3/27 at the Three Rivers gravel pond, 27 REDHEADS, 43 RING-NECKED
DUCKS, 1 CANVASBACK, 5 RUDDY DUCKS, 1 Hooded Merganser, 1 HORNED GREBE, 4
American Coots; on 4/1, 14 RING-NECKED DUCKS, 14 LESSER SCAUP, 5 RUDDY
DUCKS, 3 GREEN-WINGED TEAL, 1 HORNED GREBE, 2 American Coots (MV).

In Plain Grove on 3/31, 1 SANDHILL CRANE, several RING-NECKED DUCKS, 1
GREAT EGRET, 1 Hooded Merganser, 1 Pied-billed Grebe; on 4/1, 3 SANDHILL
CRANES, RING-NECKED DUCKS, 2 COMMON LOONS, SCAUP SP., 2 GADWALL, Eastern
Towhee (CM).

In Edinburg on 4/1, 2 COMMON LOONS, 3 RING-NECKED DUCKS, 11 Wood Ducks
(CM).


SOMERSET COUNTY:

On 3/31 at Somerset Lake, sightings included 2 RING-NECKED DUCKS, 10
LESSER SCAUP, 14 BUFFLEHEADS, 8 Hooded Mergansers, 16 RED-BREASTED
MERGANSERS, 1 RUDDY DUCK, 2 Double-crested Cormorants, 2 OSPREY, 21
BONAPARTE'S GULLS (MF).


VENANGO COUNTY:

In Canal Township on 3/27, 1 BROWN THRASHER (JS).

At the Wyattville pond on 3/27, 1 RED-NECKED GREBE (JS).


WASHINGTON COUNTY:

At Canonsburg Lake on the morning of 3/28, 1 SPOTTED SANDPIPER; later that
day, 1 Double-crested Cormorant, 1 hen LESSER SCAUP, 1 drake NORTHERN
SHOVELER, Killdeer, 1 SPOTTED SANDPIPER, Brown-headed Cowbirds (RT).


WESTMORELAND COUNTY:

In Washington Township on 3/25, calling Eastern Screech-owl, singing
Eastern Meadowlark, Eastern Phoebe, Dark-eyed Juncos, and others (DB).

On 3/26 in Stahlstown, 2+ American Woodcocks (LH).

On 3/30 at Forbes State Forest, sightings included 4 Eastern Towhees, 10
Dark-eyed Juncos, 1 Eastern Phoebe, 2 ROUGH-LEGGED HAWKS, 1 Turkey
Vulture, 1 Ruffed Grouse (heard), 1 Eastern Meadowlark (LH).

At Acme Lake on 3/31, 1 HORNED GREBE (MF).
