Welcome to the Birding Hotline for interior Alaska as of April 4, 2007.
After enduring the coldest March and February in Fairbanks' history,
signs of spring bird migration are even more welcome than usual this
year!

WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILLS were seen near the Golf Course
off of Farmer's Loop Road. on April 3.

A BALD EAGLE was seen in Fox on March 29.

A MEW GULL was sighted along the Savage River in Denali National
Park on March 28.

Two pairs of COMMON GOLDENEYE ducks were seen on the Tanana
River at Tanacross on March 27.

GREAT-HORNED OWLS were heard calling at Crossman Road and
the Musk Ox farm on March 26, and a BOREAL OWL was calling at
Cloudberry Road.

A GOLDEN EAGLE and a NORTHERN HARRIER were sighted south
of Denali National Park on March 24.

Four BLACK-BILLED MAGPIES were seen near Ivory Jacks on
March 23.

A THREE-TOED WOODPECKER was heard along the trail to the
Bentley Pond on March 22.

Upcoming events include:
The next Arctic Audubon Program will take place on April 9 at 7:00 PM
at the Noel Wien Library. Join Tricia Wurtz for a presentation on
invasive plants.

Electronic Recycling will take place on April 21 & 28 from 10 AM-4 PM.
More information can be found at www.iagreenstar.org.

The Spring Migration Celebration will take place April 28 from
Noon-4:00 PM. Events will be held at Creamer's Field Migratory Waterfowl
Refuge, the Alaska Bird Observatory, and Alaska Public Lands Information
Center (downtown Fairbanks).

A Waterfowl field trip will take place on May 5. Meet at Creamer's Refuge
back by the big barns at 9 AM. Bring binoculars, a snack, and rubber boots
if
you have them.

May 12 is a Shorebird field trip. Meet at Creamer's Refuge back by the big

barns at 9 AM. Bring binoculars, a snack, and rubber boots if you have
them.

where
the bird was seen along with your name and phone number.
