A rare find was a RED-TAILED TROPICBIRD that was picked up on Cabrillo Beach
in San Pedro on September 19. The bird is now being rehabilitated for
release.

A MISSISSIPPI KITE was seen flying over the South Coast Botanic Garden on
September 18. The bird could not be relocated.

Two PECTORAL SANDPIPERS were along the San Gabriel River on September 18.
These birds were between Whittier Blvd. and Dunlap Crossing.

A COMMON MURRE was just east of the Ventura Harbor on September 20. The
bird was seen in the sheltered cove south of the National Park building.

A BLACKPOLL WARBLER and a VIRGINIA'S WARBLER were seen at the Eaton Canyon
flood control basin in Altadena on September 18. The birds were in the
eucalyptus trees in the southwest part of the basin.

Another BLACKPOLL WARBLER was at Banning Park in Wilmington on September 16.

The Laguna Road tamarisks on the Oxnard Plain held a VIRGINIA'S WARBLER on
September 16 and a LUCY'S WARBLER on September 18. The tamarisks are just
south of Pleasant Valley Road on Laguna Road.

Another VIRGINIA'S WARBLER was at Big Sycamore Canyon in extreme
southeastern Ventura County on September 17. Access to Big Sycamore Canyon
is from the Pacific Coast Highway.

Two BOBOLINKS were at Green Hills Memorial Park in San Pedro on September
18. The park is on Western Ave. south of the Pacific Coast Highway. A
CLAY-COLORED SPARROW and a PRAIRIE FALCON were in the same area. From the
entrance to Green Hills, go left to the south perimeter road. Continue
until you see a weedy patch on the left. This is where the Bobolinks and
sparrow were seen.

At the Wood Road crossing of Revolon Slough in Ventura County, several
BOBOLINKS were seen on September 18. On the 19th, a VERMILION FLYCATCHER
and a WHITE-WINGED DOVE were at this location.
