This is Scott Barnes with the Voice of New Jersey Audubon Society for
Thursday April 12, 2007 with reports of WHITE-WINGED DOVE, LITTLE
GULL, seasonal and local reports of interest, and announcements.

The WHITE-WINGED DOVE in Cape May Point was seen again Apr 9—call the
CMBO Birding Hotline for details.
.
An adult LITTLE GULL has been present on Spruce Run Reservoir through
Apr 11. A RED-NECKED GREBE was there Apr 9
.
A SHORT-EARED OWL was viewed at Brigantine NWR Apr 7. Another Short-
eared Owl was present the same evening at Mott’s Creek Rd just north
of the refuge.

At Glassboro Woods WMA 3 LOUISIANA WATERTHRUSHES were back on
territory Apr 9.
.
North Shore reports this week were of the EURASIAN WIGEON at Silver
Lake in Belmar Apr 6, a first-year LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL at Lake
Como, and a RED-NECKED GREBE at the Belmar marina on Shark River Apr 9.

A first-year ICELAND GULL was noted at South Amboy Apr 7.
.
In Ridgewood the RED-HEADED WOODPECKER continues at the Duck Pond
Park through Apr 11. Locate it by driving to the east side of the
park and stop in the lot between Areas B and C. Looking west toward
the pond, check the area between the pavilion and the bathrooms.

Allendale Celery Farm sightings this week included 2 VIRGINIA RAILS
and 7 RUSTY BLACKBIRDS.

The Sandy Hook Migration Watch welcomes visitors and is open to the
public daily, weather permitting. This annual count of migratory
birds is conducted at the North Pond Observation Deck adjacent to

Your help is needed! New Jersey Audubon Society is currently
recruiting volunteers for bird surveys in grassland and Piedmont
areas of the state. Data is used for conservation priorities and
shared with the NJ DEP. Participants must have prior experience in
bird identification and be willing to commit one weekend day in April
for training and 2 to 4 days for surveys. For more information about
