message was prepared on Friday April 20, 2007. Highlights this week
include sightings of CATTLE EGRET, RED-NECKED GREBE, CHIMNEY SWIFT,
VESPER SPARROW, CANVASBACK, ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAK, BLUE-WINGED TEAL,
RUBY-THROATED HUMMINGBIRD and CASPIAN TERN
Up to three CATTLE EGRETS, on 4/18, have been frequenting the grassy
field along Seashore Rd. in Cape May. Two egrets were seen on
Steven’s St. on 4/16.
A RED-NECKED GREBE was seen from Ocean Dr. on 4/10.
The first CHIMNEY SWIFT of the spring was reported from Wildwood on
4/16.
A VESPER SPARROW was seen at the intersection of New England Rd. and
Bayshore Rd. on 4/14.
At least one female CANVASBACK is still being seen on lighthouse pond
at the Cape May Point State Park, as of 4/18.
ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAKS have bee seen the Cape May area in the last
couple of days. One was seen at a feeder on Seagrove Ave. in West
Cape May on 4/19. As well, one bird was seen coming to a feeder in
the Villas on the same day.
Two BLUE-WINGED TEAL continue at the Cape May Point State Park as of
4/19.
The first report of RUBY-THROATED HUMMINGBIRD for Cape May this
spring came from the CMBO Center for Research and Education
yesterday, 4/19.
Lastly, one CASPIAN TERN was seen in the gull pond area of the
Forsythe NWR on 4/17.
ANNOUNCEMENT:

on Rt. 47 in Goshen is open Tuesday- Sunday 9:00- 4:30.
