This is Dave DeReamus, for the Eastern PA Birdline, sponsored by the Lehigh
Valley Audubon Society, recorded on April 19th at 11:00 PM.

There will be a field trip to the Bethlehem Boat Club area of the Lehigh
Canal on April 21st. Meet at the Park & Ride Lot at the William Penn
Highway exit of Route 33 at 7:30 AM. I will be leading this trip.

There will also be a Beginner's Bird Walk at Jacobsburg State Park on April
22nd. Meet at the Henry's Woods parking lot at 2:00 PM. Trip leader will
be Dennis Miller.

birding guidebook, "Birds of the Lehigh Valley and Vicinity".

NOW FOR THE BIRDS!

Sightings from the GREEN POND area, Northampton County included:
GLOSSY IBIS - 2 on 4/19
ICELAND GULLS - 1 on 4/17 (first-year bird); 2 on 4/18 (one first-year bird,
one second-winter bird); 1 on 4/19 (a different bird than the two on 4/18)
Lesser Black-backed Gulls - 164 on 4/14; 132 on 4/18
Dunlin - 2 on 4/19.
Also Greater Yellowlegs.

Sightings from BELTZVILLE STATE PARK, Carbon County included:
WHITE-WINGED SCOTERS - 2 on 4/15
GREATER SCAUP - 9 on 4/15
Northern Flickers - 72 on 4/15 (58 in one group)
American Pipits - 116 on 4/16
Rusty Blackbird - 1 on 4/16.
Also Bald Eagle, Brown Thrasher, and Savannah Sparrow.

Sightings from the PENN FOREST RESERVOIR area, Carbon County included:
Hermit Thrushes - 24 on 4/16 (along Hell Hollow Road).

Sightings from the LEHIGH GAP WILDLIFE REFUGE, Carbon County included:
Common Raven - 1 on 4/14.
Also Fox Sparrow.

Sightings from GREEN LANE RESERVOIR, Montgomery County included:
LONG-TAILED DUCKS - 4 on 4/12.
And, at the nearby town of Red Hill:
LAZULI BUNTING - not seen since 4/10.
Also seen at this spot:
American Tree Sparrow - 1 to at least 4/18.

Sightings from PEACE VALLEY PARK, Bucks County included:
BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON - 1 on 4/13
Bonaparte's Gulls - 22 on 4/14
Least Sandpipers - 2 on 4/14
Brown Thrasher - 1 on 4/14.
Also Bald Eagle and Fox Sparrow.

Sightings from BUCKINGHAM TOWNSHIP, Bucks County included:
LARK SPARROW - 1 to at least 4/14 (still at the Maple Knoll Farm).

Sightings from LAKE NOCKAMIXON, Bucks County included:
AMERICAN OYSTERCATCHER - 1 on 4/19.
To my knowledge, this bird represents the 2nd record for Bucks County and
only the 5th record for the state of Pennsylvania!
RED-NECKED GREBES - 3 on 4/17, 1 on 4/18 and 4/19
WHITE-WINGED SCOTERS - 2 on 4/16
Red-breasted Mergansers - 2 on 4/19
ICELAND GULLS - 1 on 4/13; 3 on 4/18; 1 on 4/19
Caspian Tern - 1 on 4/19.
Also Bald Eagle and Spotted Sandpiper.
