This is the Chicago Audubon Society bird report for Wednesday, April 18, 2007 at 11:00pm.
Fifty WHITE PELICANS were seen today at both Carson’s Slough and Nelson Lake in Kane County. A SNOW GOOSE was also at Nelson Lake today. A RED-NECKED GREBE was at Carson’s Slough on April 13th.
Two PILEATED WOODPECKERS were seen yesterday in the Palos Hills area near 95th Street and 104th Avenue, and another PILEATED was at Teason’s Woods.
A wandering PILEATED WOODPECKER was seen April 8th at Rollins Savanna. Two YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRDS were also at Rollins Savanna on Sunday.
An EARED GREBE was seen Sunday at the Lake Forest Beach.
A RED-THROATED LOON was at Montrose on April 10th.
Two TRUMPETER SWANS were seen last week at both McGinnis Slough and Lake Katherine.
Some recent migrant arrivals in the Chicago area include AMERICAN and LEAST BITTERN, SAW-WHET OWL, MOORHEN, GNATCATCHER, MOCKINGBIRD, BLACK-AND-WHITE and ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLERS, and LE CONTE’S SPARROW.
