The following is a summary of the Georgia Rare Bird Alert (RBA) Monday
evening telephone report, April 16, 2007. The RBA is a service of the
Georgia Ornithological Society. Jeff Sewell is the voice of the RBA.


An -adult male- CALLIOPE HUMMINGBIRD has been seen in Decatur in Dekalb Co.
at the residence of Patricia White. An immature male Calliope Hummingbird,
or possibly two, have been seen there recently, as well. If you'd like to
see this bird, call the RBA Hotline and leave your name and contact number
and Jeff Sewell will call you back with directions.

A RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRD was seen at a residence in Harris Co. on April 15th.

A STILT SANDPIPER was seen at the Robinson Nature Preserve in Cobb Co. on
April 14th and April 15th. Also seen there were a LESSER YELLOWLEGS and
SOLITARY SANDPIPERs. THIS AREA IS CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC.

From the Chattahoochee Nature Center in Cobb Co. on April 14th comes a
report of a breeding pair of HOODED MERGANSERS with three chicks. This is a
fairly rare event in the Atlanta area.

A CATTLE EGRET was seen at the Buford State Fish Hatchery in Forsyth Co. on
April 14th.

GRAY KINGBIRDs have returned to coastal Glynn Co.

A LAUGHING GULL and two LEAST TERNs were seen at Lake Horton in Fayette Co.
A Laughing Gull and a BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPER were seen in Laurens Co. on
April 14th. This is only the second spring record of a Buff-breasted
Sandpiper in Laurens Co.

A juvenile GOLDEN EAGLE was seen at Sprewell Bluff in Meriweather Co. on
April 16th.

A YELLOW-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON was reported from along the Flint River at GA
Hwy 138 in Clayton Co. on April 14th.

A late FOX SPARROW was reported from Cobb Co. on April 16th.

Two immature BALD EAGLEs were among the birds reported from Warner Robins
Air Force Base on April 14th.

Fifteen species of WARBLERS were seen at Kennesaw Mountain National
Battlefield Park in Cobb Co. over the last few days, as migration heats up
there.
