VOICE OF AUDUBON FOR FRIDAY, MAY 11 (2007)
A Lark Sparrow was seen briefly today at the North Pool Overlook just
beyond the maintenance sheds at Plum Island, and other reports from the
Newburyport/Plum Island area this week included 3 Blue-winged Teal, 12
Green-winged Teal, 1 American Bittern, 20 migrating Sharp-shinned Hawks,
5 Soras, 3 Upland Sandpipers, 1 Whimbrel, 1 Semipalmated Sandpiper, 8
Purple Sandpipers, 1 Caspian Tern, 2 Least Flycatchers, 9 Eastern
Kingbirds, 1 Fish Crow, 30 Marsh Wrens, 12 Brown Thrashers, 1 American
Pipit, 17 species of wood warblers including 1 Bay-breasted, 1 Mourning,
and 1 Hooded Warbler, 1 White-crowned Sparrow, 1 Indigo Bunting, and 5
Bobolinks.
Reports from Mount Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge this week have included
at least 17 species of wood warblers including Tennessee, Cape May,
Worm-eating, Hooded, and Canada Warblers, 1 Blue Grosbeak, 4 Orchard
Orioles, and 10 Baltimore Orioles, and at the Marblehead Neck Sanctuary
there were 2 Least Flycatchers, 1 White-eyed Vireo, 2 Wood Thrushes, and
19 species of wood warblers including 19 Northern Parulas, 10
Black-and-whites, 8 Black-throated Blues, 1 Blackpoll, 1 Wilson's, 10
Ovenbirds, 10 Common Yellowthroats, 4 American Redstarts, 1 Hooded
Warbler, and 1 Canada Warbler.
Seen in Medford were 3 Great Crested Flycatchers, 1 Yellow-throated
Vireo, 10 Wood Thrushes, 9 Brown Thrashers, and 10 species of wood
warblers including 8 Nashville Warblers, 11 Northern Parulas, 1 Hooded
Warbler, and 1 Canada Warbler, and reports from Wompatuck State Park in
Hingham included a Northern Goshawk, 2 Yellow-billed Cuckoos, 5 Wood
Thrushes, 1 Cerulean Warbler, 2 Worm-eating Warblers, and 1 Hooded
Warbler.
Recent reports from Nantucket have included 2 Gadwall, 2 Northern
Pintail, 1 Bald Eagle, 190 Roseate Terns, 90 Common Terns, and 80 Least
Terns, and miscellaneous reports this week have included an American
Bittern in West Newbury, 2 Common Ravens and 2 Fish Crows in Concord, a
Worm-eating Warbler in Jamaica Plain, a Summer Tanager in Plymouth, and
a Northern Harrier and a Grasshopper Sparrow in Falmouth.
