This is a Rare Bird Alert for Southwestern Ohio (Dayton) for
Friday, April 20, 2007, sponsored by the Dayton Audubon Society.
A BLACK-NECKED STILT has been observed for several days, including
April 20th, at Acton Lake in Hueston Woods State Park.
YELLOW-THROATED WARBLERS are being observed throughout the area.
On April 20, ten or more BREWER'S BLACKBIRDS were seen at Spring
Valley Wildlife Area.
On April 18th, 10 CASPIAN TERNS were observed at Cowan Lake, while a
HERMIT THRUSH was seen at Shawnee Prairie Preserve in Darke County.
On April 17th, CHIMNEY SWIFTS were seen in Yellow Springs, while
YELLOW-THROATED WARBLER, SONG, CHIPPING, WHITE-THROATED, and FIELD
SPARROW were observed at Aullwood Gardens.
On April 15th, seen at Hills and Dales MetroPark were RUBY-CROWNED
KINGLET, and FOX and SWAMP SPARROW.
A nesting HORNED OWL was observed at Eastwood MetroPark on April
14th, and seen at Eastwood Lake were 13 COMMON LOONS and hundreds of
TREE, BARN, and NORTHERN ROUGH-WINGED SWALLOWS.
On April 14th, seen at Woodland Cemetery was YELLOW-THROATED WARBLER,
while at Spring Valley Wildlife Area, OSPREY, RUSTY BLACKBIRD, and
TREE and NORTHERN ROUGH-WING SWALLOW were seen.
Seen on the Dayton Audubon Society walk on April 14th were AMERICAN
BITTERN, VIRGINIA RAIL, and SORA.
