Saturday, April 28
A Swainson's Thrush was on Mill Hill today, along with 3 Townsend's
Solitaires.
A Wilson's Warbler was among other warblers on Mt. Tolmie.
The birds were enjoying the sunny day at Somenos Marsh today. A Lesser
Yellowlegs and many Least Sandpipers were in the area, along with a good
number of Greater White-fronted Geese. Cinnamon Teal were also on the
marsh.
Friday April 27
Two Cinnamon Teal were seen at Rithet's Bog.
Thursday, April 26
A pair of Cinnamon Teal were at Viaduct Flats along with Canvasbacks,
Gadwall and several other species.
20 Whimbrel were with about the same number of Black-bellied Plovers near
the ocean at the Victoria Golf Course on Beach Dr.
At Hastings Flats, near the intersection of Hastings and Granville, 23
Cackling Geese were in the field. Large numbers of this species were also
reported up-island.
Wednesday, April 25
A Palm Warbler in full breeding plumage was at Swan Lake today. This may be
the latest April Victoria record for this species.
Up to 250 Brant were at Island View Beach in the late afternoon.
Tuesday, April 24
A pair of nesting Hutton's Vireos was found in Oak Haven Park in Brentwood
Bay on Tuesday. A young Trumpeter Swan was seen with Mute Swans at
Esquimalt Lagoon.
