Welcome to the Birding Hotline for interior Alaska as of June 13, 2007.
A LONG-TAILED JAEGER was seen at mile 12 of the Denali Highway
on June 9.
The following birds were reported on June 8: A LEAST FLYCATCHER
was at the east end of the main boardwalk by the Seasonal Pond at
Creamer's Field, a BLACK-BACKED WOODPACKER was drumming
across Chena Hot Springs Road from the Colorado/Stiles Creek parking area,
WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILLs were heard and seen at miles 31-35, 37.5,
40, 45-48 of Chena Hot Springs Road, and a THREE-TOED
WOODPECKER was drumming at mile 52 of Chena Hot Springs Road.
A Eurasian sub-species GREEN-WINGED TEAL was at mile 41 of the
Denali Highway on June 7.
The first ARCTIC WARBLERS arrived on the Denali Highway on June 6.
A CHIPPING SPARROW was at the Granite Tors campground, and a
WESTERN WOOD PEEWEE was singing at Lancaster Dr. on June 5.
A NORTHERN HAWK OWL, 2 GREAT GRAY OWLS, a
BLACK-BACKED WOODPECKER and an AMERICAN
THREE-TOED WOODPECKER were in a burn area by Nome Creek
Road off the Steese Highway on June 3.
The following birds were seen on May 29: Four SANDERLINGS and a
SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHER were at the South Cushman Ponds, two
SANDERLINGS were at the Airport Float Plane Pond, and a PARASITIC
JAEGER was seen lying over the Large Animal Research Station.
NORTHERN WHEATEAR, AMERICAN PIPIT, LAPLAND LONGSPUR,
and SAY'S PHOEBE were seen at or near Eagle Summit on May 26 and 27.
