On the Upper Texas Coast a second year LESSER
BLACK-BACKED GULL (Larus fuscus) was seen at Bryan
Beach at Quintana on Sept. 18. A SULPHUR-BELLIED
FLYCATCHER* (Myiodynastes futeiventris) was
photographed in a private yard on West Galveston
Island on Sept. 22. The bird is no longer present.

In central Texas a FORK-TAILED FLYCATCHER* (Tyrannus
savana) has been at Hornsby Bend in Travis County near
Austin the last two days. The bird has been seen
mostly perching on the irrigation rigs and the
telephone wires across from the site offices. Please
do not go into the field with the irrigation rigs. It
is off limits to the public and could frighten the
bird.

In the Rio Grande Valley a second SULPHUR-BELLIED
FLYCATCHER* was seen at Laguna Atascosa on Sept. 16. A
YELLOW-GREEN VIREO (Vireo flavoviridus) is being seen
on the Resaca Trail at Sabal Palms Audubon Refuge in
Brownsville. A RED-BILLED TROPICBIRD* (Phaethon
lepurus) was seen the World Birding Center pelagic
trip in the Gulf on Sept.17.

In the Trans-pecos an adult BLACK-THROATED BLUE
WARBLER (Dendroica caerulescens) was seen at the Davis
Mountain State Park in Fort Davis on Sept. 23 in the
camp ground area. A BAIRD’S SPARROW (Ammodramus
bairdii) was reported at Big Bend State Park on Sept.
22. The brightly plumaged bird was seen in a patch of
grass on the gravel beach along the Rio Grande.
