WESTERN MASSACHUSETTS

This is the Western Voice of Audubon for Monday June 11, 2007

On Saturday a GRASSHOPPER SPARROW was found at the old
landfill in Amherst. Also in Amherst there were 4 HOODED
MERGANSERS, a YELLOW-BILLED CUCKOO, an ALDER and 3
WILLOW FLYCATCHERS, a MOURNING WARBLER, and an
EVENING GROSBEAK.

Three GRASSHOPPER SPARROWS were present on Churchill Street in
Pittsfield today.

A BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT HERON was noted in Williamstown, a
SWAINSON’S THRUSH and EVENING GROSBEAK in Windsor, and 4
RUBY-THROATED HUMMINGBIRDS and 3 ALDER FLYCATCHERS
in Blandford.

Seen on the east meadows of Northampton were was a PURPLE MARTIN,
3 HORNED LARKS, and 5 WILLOW FLYCATCHERS.

At October Mt in Washington there were 3 ALDER FLYCATCHERS, an
OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHER, 5 MOURNING WARBLERS, and 2
EVENING GROSBEAKS.

Southeast of Quabbin there were 8 HOODED MERGANSERS, a BLACK-
BILLED CUCKOO, 2 YELLOW-BILLED CUCKOOS, 4 RUBY-
THROATED HUMMINGBIRDS, an ACADIAN FLYCATCHER, 2 ALDER
FLYCATCHERS, a BLACKPOLL WARBLER, and a LINCOLN’S
SPARROW.

Two VIRGINIA RAILS and 2 WILLOW FLYCATCHERS were seen
in Hadley, 2 WINTER WRENS and 3 ALDER FLYCATCHERS in Granville,
and an ACADIAN FLYCATCHER in West Springfield

Two ORCHARD ORIOLES and a WILLOW FLYCATCHER were in Ludlow,
a WORM-EATING WARBLER on Mt Tom, and 2 WHIP-POOR-WILLS and
an ORCHARD ORIOLE in Southwick.

Seen in Barre were 2 HOODED MERGANSERS, a SHARP-SHINNED
HAWK, a NORTHERN GOSHAWK, a BLACK-BILLED CUCKOO, and 5
ALDER FLYCATCHERS.
