EASTERN MASSACHUSETTS -

This is the Voice of Audubon for Monday, June 11.

A SWALLOW-TAILED KITE that was seen in Rochester on Saturday has not
been reported since, nor has a FRANKLIN'S GULL that was found on
Saturday
at Sandy Point State Park at the south end of Plum Island.

The WHITE-WINGED DOVE at Nantucket was last reported on Saturday, and

the 6 BLACK-NECKED STILTS in the marsh behind Forest Beach in Chatham

were still there at least as recently as yesterday.

Other weekend reports from Plum Island included 1 BRANT, 2 AMERICAN
WIGEON, 6 GREEN-WINGED TEAL, 130 BLACK SCOTER, 2 LONG-
TAILED DUCKS, 1 LITTLE BLUE HERON, 4 GLOSSY IBISES, 1 RED
KNOT, 70 SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPERS, 19 WHITE-RUMPED SAND-
PIPERS, 3 LITTLE GULLS, 325 BONAPARTE'S GULLS, and 40 COMMON
TERNS.

A minimum of 2500 GREATER SHEARWATERS, plus roughly 200 SOOTY
SHEARWATERS, 1 MANX SHEARWATER, and 1 NORTHERN FULMAR
were noted from several beach overlooks in Truro and Wellfleet
yesterday,
and seabirds tallied on a boat trip from Plymouth to Chatham included
450
GREATER SHEARWATERS, 1500 SOOTY SHEARWATERS, 3 MANX
SHEARWATERS, 125 NORTHERN FULMARS, 4000 WILSON'S STORM-
PETRELS, 2 LEACH'S STORM-PETRELS, 500 NORTHERN GANNETS,
1 POMARINE JAEGER, 1 LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL, and 2
BLACK-LEGGED KITTIWAKES.

Miscellaneous reports from the weekend included a CURLEW SANDPIPER
at Nantasket Beach in Hull on Saturday, 2 ROYAL TERNS, 1 BLACK
TERN, and 5 BARN OWLS at Nantucket, 1 PARASITIC JAEGER and
1 BLACK GUILLEMOT at Race Point in Provincetown, a YELLOW-
THROATED VIREO in Wellfleet, a KENTUCKY WARBLER in
Yarmouth, an ACADIAN FLYCATCHER in Mashpee, and 2 AMERICAN
BITTERNS, a WHITE-EYED VIREO, and 27 BLACK-THROATED
BLUE WARBLERS in Westminster.
