A YELLOW-THROATED VIREO was at the Wilmington Drain on June 16. The drain
is just north of Harbor Park in Wilmington. Access can be found by parking
on Lomita between Vermont and Figueroa, then entering through the signed
entrance in the fence and walking south to PCH. There have been no reports
of this bird since it was found on Saturday.
A singing NORTHERN PARULA was found on June 15 at El Dorado Park in Long
Beach. The bird was in the Nature Center area of the park at the north end
of the south lake.
Just outside the county was an adult male CHESTNUT-SIDED WARBLER at the La
Jolla Canyon Trailhead in extreme southeast Ventura County. This location
is west of Big Sycamore Canyon just off the Pacific Coast Highway.
An OVENBIRD was at the Village Green Condominiums on June 18. The bird was
south of the office building and north of the oval central lawn area. Enter
on Cloverdale off Rodeo Road. The condos are private property but birders
are welcome. Please be thoughtful of the residents.
