EASTERN MASSACHUSETTS -

This is the Voice of Audubon for Monday, June 18.

A NORTHERN WHEATEAR was discovered today in the rocks at the west end

of Gray Beach in the Magnolia section of Manchester, yesterday a
WILSON'S
PLOVER was found on the beach at Sandy Point State Park at the
southern end
of Plum Island, and on Saturday a Western Kingbird was discovered
near the
beach at the end of Red Barn Road on Nantucket.

Other weekend reports from Nantucket included 1 GREEN-WINGED TEAL, 1
GREATER SCAUP, 1 NORTHERN FULMAR, 2 CORY'S SHEARWATERS,
250 GREATER SHEARWATERS, 850 SOOTY SHEARWATERS, 22 MANX
SHEARWATERS, roughly 12,000 WILSON'S STORM-PETRELS, 200
NORTHERN GANNETS, 1 BROAD-WINGED HAWK, 4 POMARINE
JAEGERS, and 1 unidentified jaeger.

The 6 BLACK-NECKED STILTS were still present this weekend in the
marsh behind Forest Hill Beach in Chatham, and the PROTHONOTARY
WARBLER in West Gloucester was still present off Laurel Street at
least
as recently as Saturday.

A report from Truro included 2 GREATER SHEARWATERS, 40 SOOTY
SHEARWATERS, 5 WILSON'S STORM-PETRELS, 600 NORTHERN
GANNETS, and 1 PARASITIC JAEGER, and at South Beach in Chatham
there were 165 BLACK-BELLIED PLOVERS, 6 SEMIPALMATED
PLOVERS, 95 RED KNOTS, 10 SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPERS, 1
LEAST SANDPIPER, 15 SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHERS, 1 LESSER
BLACK-BACKED GULL, and 1 ARCTIC TERN.

Seen at Wompatuck State Park in Hingham were an ACADIAN
FLYCATCHER, 1 CERULEAN WARBLER, 1 WORM-EATING WARBLER,
and 1 HOODED WARBLER, and miscellaneous reports from the weekend
included 3 out-of-season RING-NECKED DUCKS in Newburyport, 2
WILSON'S PHALAROPES at Plum Island, a KING RAIL in Newbury, 2
UPLAND SANDPIPERS at the Plymouth airport, 2 ACADIAN FLY-
CATCHERS in Mashpee, a SHARP-SHINNED HAWK in Harwich,
and 2 FISH CROWS in Provincetown.
