Welcome to the Audubon Society of Rhode Island's bird alert for July 19th,
2007. This report covers the period from July 15th to July 19th, and will
be updated again on the 26th.

At the Charlestown Breachway (Ninigret tidal flats) on the 17th, an early
adult BAIRD'S SANDPIPER was found along with: 7 SANDERLINGS, 8 LESSER
YELLOWLEGS, 3 GREATER YELLOWLEGS, 4 KILLDEER, 15 SHORT-BILLED DOWITCERS, 7 COMMON
TERNS and 1 ROSEATE TERN. On the 15th, 1 STILT SANDPIPER, 1 PECTORAL SANDPIPER
and a BRANT were identified.

On the 16th, at Bissel Cove in North Kingstown, 1 LITTLE BLUE HERON was
reported.

At Napatree Point in Westerly on the 16th, 1 BRANT, 5 COMMON LOONS, 14
BLACK-BELLIED PLOVERS, 14 PIPING PLOVERS, 4 AMERICAN OYSTERCATCHERS, 5 GREATER
YELLOWLEGS, 20 SPOTTED SANDPIPERS, 7 RUDDY TURNSTONES, 62 SEMIPALMATED
SANDPIPER, 36 LEAST SANDPIPER, 6 SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHERS, 3 ROSEATE TERNS and 1
FOSTER'S TERN were reported.

At Prudence Island on the 17th, 1 LITTLE BLUE HERON and 2 RUDDY TURNSTONES
were observed.

A MARSH WREN was seen along Moonstone Beach Road near mud Pond on the 19th.

Finally, on the 14th, a RUFFED GROUSE was seen at the Cumberland Monastery
in Cumberland.
