This is a Rare Bird Alert for Southwestern Ohio (Dayton) for
Thursday, August 4, 2005, sponsored by The Dayton Audubon
Society.

Reported from Englewood MetroPark on August 3rd: WESTERN SANDPIPER,
SPOTTED SANDPIPER, LEAST SANDPIPER, SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPER, SOLITARY
SANDPIPER, KILLDEER, and PECTORAL SANDPIPER. Also observed: WOOD
DUCKS, RING-BILLED GULL, YELLOW-BILLED CUCKOO, CHIMNEY SWIFTS, TREE
SWALLOW, NORTHERN ROUGH-WINGED SWALLOW, and BARN SWALLOW.

Observed on August 3rd, BLUE GROSBEAK is still present at the
Englewood North Park on Old Springfield Road. Also reported:
BOBOLINK, GREAT EGRET, WILLOW FLYCATCHER, EASTERN KINGBIRD, YELLOW
WARBLER, and COMMON YELLOWTHROAT.

The two SANDHILL CRANES are still being seen at Spring Valley WLA.
Also at Spring Valley: MUTE SWANS, OSPREY, PURPLE MARTINS, and
EASTERN KINGBIRD.

On July 29th, an immature BALD EAGLE was observed in a residential
area of Englewood.
