This is the Santa Barbara Audubon Society's rare bird report being recorded
on Friday, August 5 at 11 a.m. If you have a rare bird sighting to report,
call Karen Bridgers at 964-1316. For those of you who are getting the
transcript on the Internet, the rare bird alert number for Santa Barbara is
(805) 964-8240.

Biggest news in Santa Barbara County birding in the last week is the
discovery of a RINGED (HORNBY'S) STORM-PETREL in Santa Barbara County waters
on August 2. This bird represents a first North American record. We have no
further word on this bird.

An adult LITTLE BLUE HERON was still present on July 31 at the UCSB overlook
to Goleta Slough, which is across from the Environmental Health and Safety
building along Mesa Road. A WHITE-FACED IBIS was also there.

The two ROSS'S GEESE were still at the Rancho Goleta mobile home park pond
at the end of Ward Drive on Sunday, the 24th.

At the Santa Barbara Harbor sandspit on Sunday, July 31, there were five
WANDERING TATTLERS.

[In the past few days, SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPERS have been seen at the Santa
Maria and Goleta Sewage Treatment Plants.]

In Lompoc, the small flock of Tricolored Blackbirds that was in the
southeast corner of Old LaPurisima Mission Park has not been seen since July
7.

That is all the bird news for now, but, again, if you have a rare sighting
to report, call Karen Bridgers at 964-1316. Good birding in Santa Barbara
County.
