Merced Co.

On Oct 12, a tan-striped WHITE-THROATED SPARROW was seen in a mixed flock
of sparrow at the east end of Henderson Park in the town of Snelling.
The bird was between the restrooms and the Merced River, near
a utility pole with a white sign with fishing regulations.

On Oct 12, a BRANT was seen in the largest storage pond (Number 2) at
the Modesto Sewage Ponds. Drive up the hill as you entrance , you will
get to a highest pond, which is number 1, drive south to storage pond #2.
The bird was in the NW corner. The Sabine's Gull was not found.

On Oct 10, a pelagic trip from Bodega Bay reported
(37) BLACK-FOOTED ALBATROSS, (18) NORTHERN FULMAR,
(3) FLESH-FOOTED SHEARWATER, (62) PINK-FOOTED SHEARWATER,
(148) BULLER'S SHEARWATER, (31) SOOTY SHEARWATER, (4) SHORT-TAILED
SHEARWATER, (6) SOUTH POLAR SKUA, (36) POMARIME JAEGER,
(1) PARASITIC JAEGER, (558) CASSIN'S AUKLET, (35) RHINOCEROS AUKLET,

On Oct 12, (50+) MOUNTAIN PLOVERS were in a field that was being
flooded, south of I-80, on the west side of Pitt School Rd, about
7/10ths of a mile south of Midway. DO NOT ENTER PRIVATE PROPERTY.
A scope will be needed to see the birds well. (Terry Colborn)
