REDDISH EGRETS continue to be recorded in the Coiunty. One on the mudflats
at Bolsa Chica Preserve at Warner at PCH was reported on Friday. The other
reported yesterday (Tuesday) on the lower part of the Santa Ana River.
*** One person reported that the "south parking lot and walkbridge at Bolsa
Chica are closed until late November, so the Warner and PCH lot is the best
access. Birders can cross the Warner bridge by foot and hike along Outer
Bolsa
Bay on the inland side, cross over the tide gates, and continue along the
dune
trail to see Inner Bolsa Bay."
On the south end of Bolsa Chica on the 16th, in the vicinity of Harriet
Weider Park, a VESPER SPARROW was sighted.
A MAGNOLIA WARBLER was seen at Goldenwest College last Saturday, in silver
maples by the Police Sciences Building on the sw corner of the campus.
A ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAK, a probable immature male, was at Mason Regional
Park last Saturday...towards the riparian area on the western side of the
park.
A continuing LUCY'S WARLBER was at Mile Square Park on Saturday.
Last Sunday an immature male AMERICAN REDSTART was along the Santa Ana River
bike trail... just east of the Orange-Olive RR tracks....take
Riverdale...east from Glassell...stop sign at Orange-Olive Rd...parking area
for bike trail...go east...cluster of shrubs was where bird was. Also
further upstream towards Tustin Ave were 2 PECTORAL SANDPIPERS.
A BLACKPOLL WARBLER was seen on the 17th (Monday) along the San Juan Creek
(Dana Point) bike trail where it meets Pacific Coast Highway....along the
fence line in shrubs. Another Blackpoll Warbler was found on Tuesday
.....Hart Park...along Santiago Creek....adjacent to Santiago
Park....upstream from Santiago Park....east of Glassell crossing of the
Creek...far eastern end...along bike path...couple hundred feet on bike path
past park.
Today at Huntington Central Park the SUMMER TANAGER was again reported on
the east side of the park and also the PLUMBEOUS VIREO continued (no
specific location cited).
