This is the birding hotline report of the Madison
Audubon Society for Wednesday, November 2nd.
An observer at 9 Springs Natural Area found
KILLDEER, several duck species, RUSTY BLACKBIRDS, and FOX SPARROWS.
Reports from Goose Pond in Columbia County
include TUNDRA SWANS and a single blue-phase SNOW GEESE.
An immature ROSS’S GOOSE/SNOW GOOSE hybrid was
spotted at Stricker’s Pond along with several
CACKLING GEESE and many CANADA GEESE.
Lake Barney has also had a good number of SNOW
and CACKLING GEESE. It’s good to have a scope at this location.
PURPLE FINCHES and RED-BREASTED NUTHATCHES have
also been reported around the area, as have a small number of COMMON LOONS.
