This is the Michigan Statewide Bird Report for Thursday, August 11th 2005.
It is sponsored by the Holland Audubon Society.

In BERRIEN COUNTY, the 2 EURASIAN COLLARED DOVES*, which have been present
since May 15th, remained present through at least August 5th at the
intersection of US-12 (a/k/a Ash Street) & Elm Street in Three Oaks. The
doves (including 1 EURASIAN COLLARED-type hybrid) were present behind the
house on the southeast corner of the intersection. Birders should also look
around the village park on the northeast corner.

In MONROE COUNTY as of August 5th, the 2 previously reported immature LITTLE
BLUE HERONS and 1 SNOWY EGRET remained at the Erie Marsh Preserve. 1
AMERICAN WHITE PELICAN was seen August 6th in Cell #3 of Point Mouilee State
Game Area.

In MUSKEGON COUNTY on August 6th, 2 juvenile BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPERS were
located, on the center dike at Muskegon Wastewater Facility.

In EMMET COUNTY on August 6th, 1 juvenile BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPER was found
on the beach of Wilderness State Park.

In IOSCO COUNTY, August 7th, a BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPER was reported along
the Lake Huron Shoreline.

Finally, a most unusual report out of ALGER COUNTY this week, of a GREATER
FLAMINGO*, present at Au Train Lake, August 3rd through August 5th. This
individual was most certainly a zoo escape, or an escape/release from a
private collection. Local NBC affiliate WLUC-TV (Channel 6) ran a story on
the sighting last weekend. Text and photo are posted on their website.

The next scheduled update of this report will be on Thursday, August 18th,
2005. To report your sightings, please leave a message at the sound of the
tone or call Jon Wuepper at 269-556-9510. Thanks for calling and good
birding.
