____ DUPAGE COUNTY ______________________________________

At the Morton Arboretum on November 8, birds seen on the West Side near
the prairie include 15-20 EASTERN BLUEBIRDS, MERLIN, and many sparrows
including WHITE-THROATED SPARROWS, and AM. TREE SPARROWS. PINE SISKINS
are also being seen near Lake Marmo. At least 127 FOX SPARROWS were
also reported on November 12. Numbers were greatly reduced there this
weekend, but at least 90 FOX SPARROWS were seen at Hidden Lake in the
woods at the far end of the preserve east of the river and the power lines.

This week at Elsen's Hill, three EASTERN TOWHEES and five EASTERN
BLUEBIRDS were seen.

At Pratt's Wayne Woods on Nov. 7, birds seen include 6 LAPLAND
LONGSPURS, 3 SNOW BUNTINGS, and 2 LESSER YELLOWLEGS.

At Tri-County S.P. on Nov. 7, a NORTHERN SHRIKE, five SNOW BUNTINGS, a
LAPLAND LONGSPUR, and a LINCOLN'S SPARROW were seen.

On November 19, a NORTHERN SHRIKE was seen at Springbrook Prairie

At Greene Valley on Nov. 19, a ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK was seen. A possible
NORTHERN SHRIKE was also seen along the entrance road to the Thunderbird
Campground area. A late AMERICAN BITTERN was seen near the 83rd Street
fluddle on November 8.

A late BALTIMORE ORIOLE was seen on Nov. 18 in a backyard in Lisle.

Many blackbirds also continue to be seen at Tri-County S.P., Pratt's
Wayne Woods, and Warrenville Grove F.P.

Birds seen at Mallard Lake on Nov. 7 include 3 SNOW BUNTINGS, a LAPLAND
LONGSPUR, and a PIED-BILLED GREBE.

At Hawk Hollow on Nov. 7, a LAPLAND LONGSPUR and a SHARP-SHINNED HAWK
were seen.

PURPLE FINCHES have been seen at a couple locations this week.

Two or three RUBY-CROWNED KINGLETS were still present this week at
various locations along with GOLDEN-CROWNED KINGLETS. EASTERN TOWHEES
and a couple HERMIT THRUSHES also continue to be seen.

Large numbers of SANDHILL CRANES were seen flying over this week.

____ KANE COUNTY _______________________________________

On November 15 at Hampshire Forest Preserve, a SPOTTED TOWHEE was seen
was seen at the north end of the preserve. Park in the front parking
and follow the road into the preserve. Instead of following the road to
the west, remain on a northward track (a closed off paved road) through
the forest to the fields at the north. Continue north on the grassy
trail but begin watching for Sparrows. The grassy trail circles a wood
lot. Hampshire F.P. is just west of Route 20 on Allen Rd (a mile or
two west of Route 47).

At Fabyan F.P. (West), a RED CROSSBILL was seen on November 11 in some
pines in the woods north of the Japanese Garden near the dead end of the
bike trail. The West section of Fabyan F.P. (Japanese Garden) is
located on Route 31, just north of Fabyan Road.

Birds seen at Nelson Lake Marsh on November 10th and 11th include
CACKLING GEESE, SANDHILL CRANE, RUDDY DUCK, LESSER SCAUP, NORTHERN
SHOVELER, AMERICAN BLACK DUCK, AMERICAN PIPITS, HORNED LARKS,
WHITE-CROWNED SPARROWS, and RING-NECKED PHEASANT.White-crowned sparrow

____ FERMILAB SIGHTINGS ________________________________

At FermiLab on Nov. 17, a BALD EAGLE was seen at Lake Law.

On November 11, birds seen at Lake Law and A.E. Sea included ROSS'S
GOOSE, SNOW GOOSE, CACLKING GEESE, AMERICAN WIDGEON, GADWALL, and a SCAUP.

At Lake Law and A.E. Sea on Nov. 7, four SNOW BUNTINGS and an OSPREY
were seen.

At FermiLab on Nov. 12, birds at Lake Law and A.E. Sea included 3
BONAPARTE'S GULLS, 6 SNOW GEESE, 7 GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GEESE, and a
MERLIN. South of the Sparrow Hedge, 7 LAPLAND LONGSPURS, 2 SNOW
BUNTINGS, and a NORTHERN SHRIKE were seen. At least 73 FOX SPARROWS
were also counted at seven various areas throughout the site. Other
birds include ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK, BROWN THRASHER, EASTERN MEADOWLARK,
EASTERN TOWHEE, PURPLE FINCH, and PINE SISKIN.

Hankes Rd. northwest, 0.3 of a mile to the entrance.

Sunday, November 27, 8:00 a.m. Dick Young F.P. (Nelson Lake, Kane Co.)
Target birds are migrating waterfowl. From I-88, exit Orchard Rd. north,
go approx. 1/2 mile to Oak St, turn left (west). Go a short distance to
Deerpath Rd. right (north), eventually it becomes Nelson Lake Rd.
Parking lot entrance on the left (west). From IL-31 in Batavia, take
Main St. (about half way between Butterfield & Roosevelt Rds.) west to
Nelson Lake Lake Rd. Go south about 1/2 mile to the parking lot on the
right.
